Hi, and thank you for visiting! My name is Megan and I live with my husband and son (3-years-old) in rural Ontario, Canada. I am a social worker who is passionate about community building, environmental sustainability, and environmental justice. I also love to hike, kayak, and spend time with animals, and end my day watching a funny sitcom (Parks and Recreation anyone?!).
I grew up in the suburbs, and after going on a backwoods canoe trip when I was 10, I developed an awe and wonder for the natural world around me. In 2014 I moved to a 50-acre farm where my husband grew up. My learning curve has been BIG (gardening, maintaining outbuildings, and chickens!), but my time living on the farm has helped me to continue to connect with the beautiful earth we depend on for our survival, our collective home.
My family and I desire to be good stewards of the earth by simply wasting less through reducing what we are sending to the landfill, reducing our overall emissions output, and making environmentally sustainable choices (such as growing and storing our own food, and buying less stuff). We also desire to make our world a just place for those who are most vulnerable to climate change.
I am hopeful that our journey can be a catalyst to educate and motive others as a low waste and sustainable lifestyle is possible, necessary, and rewarding.
I’m certainly not an expert, and am imperfectly living this life, but I hope that I can bring some practical and real information for those of you who have either never explored being “green,” or are already on your journey but crave more.
Hello there! Greetings to you from Reading, PA USA
